Words from Lebanon

August 5, 2006

Some of the best blogging on the current Middle East war is coming from Lebanon. Over the past weeks I’ve been amazed and moved by the ability of the Lebanese to find poetry in the most horrific of circumstances and to write with such grace and elegance. All the while, whatever we might individually think of this war, their newly-nascent country is being shredded around them.

Lebanese political journal is a blog that has to be read at least once a day and this is a searing post. The comments it inspired are sometimes comforting, sometimes appalling, but probably are a better measure of the way people are feeling right now than anything you’d read in the mainstream media.
